note from the editor
for the past several weeks, matt and i have been spending most of our organizational capacity helping mobilize community around the testimony that has been shared about Artist Trust’s inequitable practices, policies, and organizational culture – to read more, click here.
in relation to this organizing, we are going to be dedicating the next few weeks of content to the flaws, and potential for change and growth, in our current art ecosystem.
when there is so much happening in the world right now, maybe it feels silly to focus on inequity in the arts. but it is the industry we live and work in, and that our community lives and works in. it affects the livelihoods of so many people we love and care about, and it feels imperative that we use our experience and knowledge in this field to try to make change where we can be most impactful.
we have some exciting essays in the works, and a couple of arts-focused “reading lists for the revolution” ready to publish. thank you for sticking with our shifting, moving, and sometimes slow publishing schedule in the past couple of months. we’re just two buds trying to make this work in a way that feels sustainable to us, our writers, and you.
talk soon. –satpreet
